TMD & ASSOCIATES seeks to build and preserve your wealth. Through client-specific financial analysis and investment research, our services are designed to secure your financial well being for the long-term. As your wealth manager, we are dedicated to delivering advice in a manner that is both confidential and consistent with your needs.
THE PROCESS We believe in the financial planning process. This is the process of identifying goals, gathering and reviewing financial data, and designing and implementing a plan to help you reach your goals. It is a lifelong process. Once the plan is in place, it needs to be monitored, reviewed and updated to meet dynamic circumstances. Not everyone needs to have a written comprehensive financial plan. Everyone, however, can benefit from the financial planning process.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES There is no one particular investment portfolio that is appropriate for all individual investors. We believe in developing client-specific investment strategies that emphasize diversified asset allocation. The optimal portfolio will depend on the amount and timing of cash flow needs, tax considerations and market conditions. Investment decisions should be based, therefore, on the client's overall financial objectives. Through that objective-driven process, crucial factors such as appropriate levels of risk and return are derived and optimized to achieve those objectives.
THE ROLE OF INVESTMENTS Investing is only one component of financial planning though certainly an important one. We believe that an investment policy and asset allocation can be designed only after the initial financial planning process is complete and a target return is established. We allocate assets among the major classes of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, and alternative investments such as private equity, private real estate, and other non-traditional investment options. Every three months you will receive a written portfolio performance report, which gives you a clear picture of your account performance.
OUR SERVICES & FEES
FINANCIAL PLANNING These services are oriented toward developing written strategic plans for solving specific problems and/or reaching specific goals depending on family needs. There is a one-time fee charged for this initial plan development. Fees may be between $750 and $4,000 depending upon the complexity of the plan. These services are available individually or as part of a comprehensive plan that often includes:
-
Cash-flow Management Strategies -
Retirement Income and Capital Needs Analysis -
Investment Analysis and Strategies -
Risk Management Strategies -
Estate Planning and Tax Minimization -
Charitable Giving Strategies.
WEALTH MANAGEMENT SERVICES Our wealth management services provide a comprehensive level of planning and investment management in two phases. The first phase of our wealth management services includes development of a financial plan and portfolio design. There is a one-time fee charged for this initial plan development as outlined above. The second phase of these services is ongoing management and financial planning. Included with this phase are quarterly reports on the client's investment portfolio, target allocation and related performance. This includes a tracking of portfolio holdings, interest and dividend payments, capital gains, overall portfolio performance, and so forth. Periodic meetings are held with the client to review their current situation and investment portfolio. These services are limited to those with a minimum of $400,000 to place under management.
INVESTMENT ADVISORY SERVICES These services begin with the discussion of an Investment Policy Statement developed from the portfolio optimization process. We will implement, manage and re-evaluate your portfolio on a regular, ongoing basis. The fees for these services are the same as our Wealth Management service with the exception of the initial plan development fee. Once an asset allocation strategy for a pool of capital has been determined through the optimization process, specific investment decisions must be made. A carefully selected group of no-load mutual funds is typically used for most portfolios under $1,0000,000. Larger portfolios may be appropriate for our private account management service. Assets are typically custodied at Raymond James & Associates but can be tailored to your specific needs. We have found that Raymond James assures our clients of reliable execution and reporting.
ADDITIONAL POINTS
SERVICE FIRST Service and personal attention are the hallmark of TMD & Associates. It is the defining quality that sets us apart from our competition. The personal relationship that we develop with each of our clients starts with an initial meeting that identifies your needs, objectives, and risk tolerances. Thereafter, we develop a plan and illustrate our investment process, philosophy, and portfolio design. Our ongoing attention to the composition and performance of your portfolio, and our frequent communication with each of our clients, distinguishes TMD & Associates as a truly client-focused firm. In short, TMD & Associates is service oriented - not sales oriented.
CONFIDENTIALITY Because the relationship between you and our firm is delicate, we treat it with professionalism and trust. All business you conduct with TMD & Associates is held in strictest confidence- just as you would expect from any trusted professional. Our relationship is based on this trust and professionalism and we do not take that for granted. Access to your information is limited to those on a "need-to-know" basis. Our firm has also implemented a number of safeguards to assure the safety of your information from those outside our firm.
TAX SENSITIVITY Taxes represent a significant consideration for every long-term investor. By minimizing income taxes, investors retain more wealth to help meet their goals. We exercise care in the appropriate placement of investments within taxable and tax-deferred accounts. For example, we generally place index and tax-managed vehicles in taxable accounts and higher turnover mutual funds in tax-deferred accounts. However, tax considerations do not dominate our portfolio management process.
PARTNERING Our firm also recognizes that working with other professionals with deep knowledge across a range of specialties serves the best interests of our clients. We partner with these professionals to bring the most effective solutions to our client's needs. We expect that these partners understand the value in a team approach. For those clients who already have trusted relationships with other advisors, we will work with both you and your advisors to assure that we develop a coordinated plan that meets your personal needs.
TECHNOLOGY A wide range of economic, political, and social factors may influence our client's investments. Therefore, keeping abreast of these changes is critical to growing and preserving your wealth. TMD & Associates has access to minute-to-minute market data and breaking news as well as sophisticated portfolio management and financial planning software to keep us on top of the ever-changing financial markets. Raymond James also offers our clients secured, online access to your accounts. These resources keep you informed on the progress of your investments, to monitor and track changes to your portfolio, and to make strategic recommendations to you based on these changes.
ACCOUNT PROTECTION Each account held at our primary custodian, Raymond James, is protected up to $50 million in the event of firm liquidation. In addition to the $500,000 protection for securities in client accounts provided by the SIPC (Security Investor Protection Corporation) including up to $100,000 in cash, our custodian has purchased an additional $49.5 million in protection for securities (excess SIPC). This Coverage does not protect against market fluctuations.
